Carolyn & Daniel
- Sunset Handfasting Ceremony at Edgartown Lighthouse Beach –
Carolyn and Daniel traveled to Martha’s Vineyard for the very first time to celebrate their union with an intimate sunset elopement in August at Edgartown Lighthouse Beach. Staying in the heart of downtown Edgartown allowed them to enjoy a relaxed and walkable wedding experience, beginning their day with preparations at Vineyard Square Hotel before sharing an emotional first look on the back porch.
Carolyn went for a beautiful timeless look with her white silk gown and classic bouquet of pink and white roses. Daniel’s gaze, fixed on his bride, held the quiet joy of a man who had found his true north.
After portraits through historic downtown and along the scenic path leading toward the lighthouse, the couple arrived at the beach just as the light softened over the harbor. Edgartown Lighthouse is one of the island’s most loved ceremony locations, offering a peaceful shoreline, and iconic coastal views, making it especially perfect for intimate weddings and elopements.
Their original ceremony, rich in personal history and sacred symbolism, was beautifully crafted by our officiant to reflect Carolyn and Daniel’s unique journey and shared faith. The couple first met at work, but their relationship unfolded through patience and divine timing. Carolyn remained focused on completing her college degree before allowing their relationship to grow, setting a strong foundation rooted in respect, and unwavering support for each other’s personal goals. During the ceremony, they exchanged heartfelt personal vows and incorporated meaningful readings and poems that reflected their journey together.
Following their ring exchange, the couple participated in a handfasting ceremony using three braided cords symbolizing their unity and the role faith plays in their marriage. The completed knot, a symbol of their union with God at the center, was kept as a cherished memento.
After being pronounced husband and wife, Carolyn and Daniel celebrated with a private first dance and sparkling toast on the beach before continuing sunset portraits around the lighthouse and dunes. They concluded their wedding evening with a waterfront dinner at Bettini overlooking Edgartown Harbor and a quiet cake cutting back at their hotel — a perfect ending to a day that was both effortless and deeply personal.
